See what the scale can't show you.

DEXA is the gold standard for measuring body composition and bone strength. Ten minutes on the table gives you numbers no scale, mirror or blood panel can provide.

Performed at our own clinic on Barnhusgatan 22 — reviewed by Revi clinicians.

Three examinations

Choose the measurement that answers your question — or take both in the same visit.

Body composition

Fat, muscle and visceral fat — region by region

1 490 kr
  • Whole-body fat percentage
  • Fat-free mass index (FFMI)
  • Appendicular lean mass index (ALMI)
  • Visceral fat — the metabolically harmful abdominal fat
  • Detailed regional distribution: trunk, arms and legs separately

A pedagogic visual report is always included

For you who lift, are losing weight, are on GLP-1 or hormone therapy and want to know whether what you're losing is fat or muscle.

Bone density

Skeletal strength measured where fractures actually happen

1 990 kr
  • Regional measurement of the lumbar spine (L1–L4)
  • Regional measurement of the hip, left and right
  • T-score and Z-score against a reference population
  • FRAX — 10-year fracture risk, where applicable
  • VFA — vertebral fracture assessment, where applicable

A pedagogic visual report is always included

For you in or after menopause, with a family history of osteoporosis, a previous fracture, long-term corticosteroid treatment — or who simply wants an early baseline.

Recommended

Body composition + bone density

The full picture in a single visit

2 990 kr
  • Everything included in body composition
  • Everything included in bone density
  • One coherent walkthrough of both results
  • One visit, one positioning — no extra bookings

A pedagogic visual report is always included

For you who want a complete baseline for both lean mass and skeleton, and to follow both over time.

You save SEK 490 compared with booking separately

Always included

Pedagogic visual report

Right after the examination you receive a visual report with your values explained in plain language. It is easy to share with your own physician and yours to keep as a baseline for future measurements.

Optional add-on

Physician walkthrough — SEK 1 000

A video consultation where a Revi physician goes through your values and what they mean for your training, nutrition and any treatment.

When DEXA makes a difference

The examination is most valuable when it answers a concrete question.

Strength training and recomposition

The scale stands still while the body changes. DEXA shows whether you are building muscle and losing fat at the same time — and in which regions.

GLP-1 and weight loss

Rapid weight loss often costs lean mass. With a baseline and a follow-up you can see how much of the loss is actually fat.

TRT and hormone therapy

Objective follow-up of lean mass and fat distribution during treatment, instead of feel and mirror.

Osteoporosis and fracture risk

Bone density is the only way to see how strong the skeleton really is before a fracture reveals it.

Menopause

Bone density can decline quickly during and after menopause. A measurement gives a basis for treatment decisions.

A baseline for the years ahead

One value says something. Two values say what is happening. Measuring early gives you a direction, not just a number.

How the visit works

  • You complete our radiation safety screening before booking — it takes about thirty seconds.
  • On site you lie still on the table for around ten minutes. No tunnel, no needle, no discomfort.
  • No special preparation is needed — come as you are, avoid metal in your clothing.
  • Results are reviewed by a Revi clinician and explained to you in context.

You always get your results

Right after the examination you receive a pedagogic visual report with your values explained — easy to read, easy to share with your own physician and yours to keep as a baseline. If you want a Revi physician to go through the results with you, you add a video consultation.

Radiation safety

Yes, DEXA involves radiation. Here is exactly how much.

We would rather give you the number outright than hide it in the fine print. A DEXA examination delivers an effective dose of approximately 0.005 millisievert (mSv). That is roughly the natural background radiation you receive from living one day on Earth. Small — but not nothing.

Effective dose per examination

0,005 mSv

How the dose compares

DEXA scan at Revi0,005 mSv
One day of natural background radiation0,008 mSv
Flight Stockholm–New York0,03 mSv
Standard chest X-ray0,1 mSv

Justification and risk assessment for radiation safety

Under Swedish radiation protection law every examination using ionising radiation must be justified — the benefit must outweigh the risk for you specifically. We therefore carry out an individual justification and risk assessment before every DEXA examination, and we reserve the right to decline or postpone an examination if that assessment shows it is not justified. If we decline, you pay nothing.

Measure instead of guessing

Ten minutes on the table gives you numbers you can follow for years.
