The agenda
- 01
Why breathing matters
We breathe around 20,000 times a day — the quality of each breath affects the whole body.
- 02
Anatomy
The diaphragm and the accessory breathing muscles (scalenes, SCM, intercostals), with anatomical illustrations.
- 03
Biomechanics & breathing patterns
How the ribs, thoracic spine and trunk work together — and what separates a relaxed pattern from a strained one.
- 04
Consequences of a strained pattern
Muscular tension in the neck and shoulders, segmental dysfunction in the thoracic spine, reduced circulation and CO₂ out of balance (muscle aches, numbness, dizziness).
- 05
Test yourself
Simple self-tests on site — you get to feel your own pattern.
- 06
Breathing as a tool
How to steer towards recovery or focus, plus safety considerations.
- 07
Practical finish: box breathing
A guided exercise together before we part ways.
