Knee osteoarthritis (gonarthrosis) is the most common joint disease in Sweden and occurs when cartilage in the knee gradually breaks down. It causes pain on loading, morning stiffness, swelling and reduced mobility. Without active treatment, symptoms often worsen over the years and may end in joint replacement.
