Wrist osteoarthritis — ultrasound-guided PRP for cartilage wear in the wrist

Load-related pain and reduced hand strength don't have to mean surgery.

We combine diagnostic ultrasound, ultrasound-guided PRP and targeted hand rehab to reduce symptoms and restore function.

Regenerative treatment for pain, stiffness and reduced grip in the wrist.

Wrist OA is cartilage wear in the wrist — most commonly in the radiocarpal joint after previous injury or in SLAC wrist. Symptoms include load-related pain, reduced grip and stiffness. Ultrasound-guided PRP can reduce inflammation and stimulate tissue healing.

How it works

  1. Single visit (~45 min)
    1. 01Ultrasound examination & diagnosis~15 min
A licensed physiotherapist maps the wrist with diagnostic ultrasound, identifies the affected part of the wrist and confirms the treatment plan.
    2. 02Ultrasound-guided PRP injection~30 min
60–180 ml of blood is drawn, centrifuged, and platelet-rich plasma is injected with ultrasound precision directly into the affected part of the wrist.
  2. 03Pre-optimisationIf needed0–3 months
In cases of overweight, insulin resistance or systemic inflammation, we optimise metabolic health and loading patterns to maximise the PRP response for upcoming treatments.
  3. 04Rehab and follow-upOngoing
Individualised hand rehab programme for grip, mobility and ergonomics — often in collaboration with an occupational therapist when needed.
  4. 05Maintenance treatmentIf neededEvery 3–6 months
For chronic osteoarthritis, maintenance treatments every 3–6 months help sustain pain relief and function over time.

What is wrist osteoarthritis?

Wrist OA is cartilage wear in the wrist joints, often after previous injury (fracture, ligament injury) or as part of a SLAC pattern. Symptoms include load-related pain, reduced grip, stiffness and progressive loss of hand function.

How we treat wrist osteoarthritis

We start with a diagnostic ultrasound examination to identify which sub-joint is the source. Based on that, we combine ultrasound-guided PRP, targeted hand rehab and ergonomic adjustment.
